Our party of 4 visited this PUB for lunch today, menus were presented to us with a choice of sandwiches, LUNCHES or main meals. 3 of us opted for a lunch (which were smaller than a starter) and 1 for a sandwich.#1 a pate lunch with red onion chutney & melba toast, the pate was a very small portion, & with a very strange taste, the melba toast was out of a pack no butter no red onion chutney. #2&3 were smoked salmon and crayfish with a maryrose sauce these arrived in a very small glass(1chipped) A sandwich was by far the best option. A creme brulee with no burnt sugar top and 3 other sweets 2 pints & 2 lemonades OVER £60 We will not be going back. Its a long winter.

food was good and that was the end of the positive piece of the review.
actually met the chef alan who was an obvious well qualified chef who helped me decide on my dish choice.
the manager or lack of manager who i had to go and find on 2 occasions had to find between courses but he was busy smoking so it is excusable i dont think ! as a non smoker i hate to smell smoke on people especialy when i am paying for a meal is wrong
the rest of the staff were totally inadequate i asked two members of them for drinks and menus but none were forthcoming and in the end i got my own from other patrons.
the restaraunt was smelling of paint which also put me off my food i am all for repainting of rooms etc to enhance but you dont open for business with fumes in a room ps.
this establishment needs leadership and patrons who care about customers not just grabbing the money.
i was amazed to be told that it is under new management since december and customers are treated in this manner .
the trip to the bell for me and companions was dreadful and my custom will never be had in this establishment ever again
